Outplacement Support at Shefa

At The Shefa School, we are deeply committed to supporting our students and families as they transition from our program to their next school. Our Outplacement Team partners with families to identify schools that align with each student’s unique learning profile, strengths, Jewish background, and interests, ensuring their continued academic and personal success. Our goal is to ensure that students are well-prepared and confident as they move forward in their academic pursuits at a school most appropriate for them. Over 95% of our students transition into mainstream schools, and they are remarkably successful at those schools.

Comprehensive Support for Families

All of our 8th graders take part in Shefa’s outplacement process as they each find the right high school. These services are also available to students considering outplacement prior to 8th grade.

Our Outplacement process is designed to provide comprehensive support, including:

  • Personalized School Recommendations: Drawing on our deep knowledge of Jewish day schools, mainstream independent schools, public schools, and other educational options, we guide families toward appropriate placements that meet their child’s needs.
  • Application Guidance: From managing standardized testing requirements to crafting strong applications, our team offers step-by-step assistance to support the process.
  • Interview Preparation: We work with students to build confidence and hone their skills for school visits and interviews.
  • Advocacy: Our team advocates on behalf of our students to ensure that the schools they are applying to fully understand their academic growth, potential, and possible need for academic support.
  • Records Management: We handle the submission of school records, teacher recommendations, and other required documents to make the application process as smooth as possible.

All of our 8th graders take part in Shefa’s outplacement process as they each find the right high school. These services are also available to students considering outplacement prior to 8th grade.

  • Proficiency in reading fluency, decoding, and comprehension
  • Mastery of writing, study, and executive functioning strategies
  • Growth in self-advocacy and independent learning skills
  • Development of strong interpersonal and organizational skills
