Shefa’s Inaugural Impact Award Recipients

The Shefa School is proud to launch a new award at this year’s Benefit, honoring the leadership, accomplishments, and growth of staff members who have served 10 years here at our school. The Shefa Impact Award highlights the commitment and lasting impact of its recipients on the entire Shefa community.
Linda Maleh
Assistant Head of Lower School and Lower School Math Coordinator, The Shefa School
Linda Maleh has been working at The Shefa School since its founding in 2014. Prior to joining the original Shefa team, Linda was teaching at a special education school in Brooklyn. When she heard about an emerging Jewish day school intended to serve the needs of children with language-based learning disabilities, she felt called to be a part of it. Linda has had a number of different roles since arriving at Shefa, including Founding Lead Teacher, Math Coach, and now Lower School Math Coordinator and Assistant Head of the Lower School. Through close collaboration with her colleagues, Linda has discovered that just like her students, the teachers she works with also have different learning styles. Over her time at Shefa, she has learned to adapt her coaching methods to effectively meet the needs of each teacher, so she can support and guide them in the best ways.
Cara Jordan
Middle School Language Arts Coordinator, The Shefa School
Cara Jordan began her teaching career at the Windward School in White Plains. She was also a literacy specialist at the Westchester Institute for Human Development’s Learning Evaluation and Achievement Program. In 2014, with the encouragement of Roberta Solar and Yoni Schwab, Cara became a Founding Lead Teacher at The Shefa School. Having attended Catholic school growing up, she was excited to be back in a faith based environment. She wholeheartedly believes in the mission of The Shefa School, and is grateful to have been a part of the growth of the school. With over 15 years of teaching experience, Cara is now the Middle School Language Arts Coordinator. She collaborates with and mentors the Language Arts teachers, constructs curriculum, and presents extensive professional development workshops through The Shefa Center.
