The Shefa School is a Jewish community day school in Manhattan serving students in grades K-8 who benefit from a specialized educational environment in order to develop their strengths while addressing their learning challenges. We specifically serve students with language-based learning disabilities who have not yet reached their potential levels of success in traditional classroom settings. Shefa is a pluralistic community school, serving families across the range of Jewish involvement and observance. The Speech-Language Pathologist will provide integrated support to students with language-based learning disabilities through push-in and pull-out models. This includes collaboration with teachers and the support of students within the classroom during content areas as well as the remediation of language skills within small groups. Speech-Language Pathologists at Shefa also teach daily reading and writing groups.

The ideal candidate will have experience using multisensory Orton-Gillingham instruction and expertise in working with students with language-based learning disabilities in clinical and/or school settings. We seek educators who thrive in highly collaborative environments, who are reflective and committed to growth, who have strong communication skills, and who demonstrate a strong commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. Prior experience in a classroom setting is a strongly preferred. Certification is required.
